Who is responsible?

Dnkhof Guest House PTY Ltd, trading as Dankhof Guest House, is responsible for the personal information described in this notice. This notice covers https://dankhof.co.za.

We aim to handle personal information in accordance with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). Please contact Tiaan Viljoen, our compliance contact, with privacy questions or requests.

Information you share with us

Our enquiry form asks for your name, email address and message. Your telephone number is optional. You may also tell us your preferred dates, room preferences or other details relevant to your enquiry. Required fields allow us to understand and answer your request; without them we may be unable to respond.

The enquiry form is configured to send your message to our email inbox. It does not keep a separate submissions archive in WordPress. Email systems, delivery logs and backups may retain copies. Please do not send payment card details, identity documents, health information or other sensitive information through this form.

The website and hosting systems may process technical information such as IP addresses, request times, browser information and security logs to deliver pages, investigate faults and help prevent abuse.

The enquiry form uses Google reCAPTCHA to help detect spam and automated abuse. It may process your IP address, browser and device information, and interactions used for security checks, and may set the _GRECAPTCHA security cookie. This protection remains active when optional cookies are rejected. Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply. You can contact us by email or telephone instead of using the form.

How we use information

We use enquiry details to answer questions, discuss accommodation and assist with requested arrangements. We use relevant booking information to administer reservations and our guest-house services. We may also process records to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes and protect the security of our systems.

The appropriate legal basis depends on the purpose: steps requested before a contract or performance of a contract, a legal obligation, a legitimate interest where permitted, or your consent. Sending an enquiry is not an agreement to receive unrelated marketing.

Bookings and external services

Our reservation buttons take you to NightsBridge. Information you enter there is handled through that booking service and may be supplied to us to manage your stay. Please review the privacy information and booking conditions displayed by NightsBridge before submitting details. A website enquiry alone does not confirm a reservation.

We use service providers for hosting, email and website support. Relevant information may be available to authorised people supporting those services, or disclosed where legally required. Contact us for information about the providers involved in handling a particular enquiry or reservation.

Google services, NightsBridge and other external providers may process information outside South Africa. Cross-border processing is subject to applicable legal requirements. Please review the providers’ privacy notices when using their services.

Cookies and your choices

Cookies and similar browser storage can remember choices or support website features. Complianz manages our cookie preferences. Necessary storage supports security and your consent choices; optional services are controlled separately. You can reopen the consent panel using “Cookie settings”.

Complianz uses first-party cookies with the cmplz_ prefix to remember consent categories, banner status and policy version. These are configured to expire after 365 days unless cleared sooner. WP Consent API communicates your preferences to compatible services. Analytics may use _ga and _ga_* cookies to distinguish visitors and maintain session information when analytics storage is allowed.

Google Maps is optional. The embedded map is not loaded on your first visit. Loading it connects your browser to Google, which receives connection information including your IP address and may use cookies. You can use the written address without loading the map. “Get directions” opens Google Maps as a separate service.

The design uses Google Fonts. Remote fonts are controlled with the optional Google services category; fallback fonts may appear before you allow these services. A font request shares connection information with Google even when no cookie is set.

Google Analytics 4 is connected through Google Site Kit to help us understand visits, pages viewed and interactions with this website. Google may process browser and device details, page addresses and approximate location derived from connection information. Complianz communicates your Analytics choice through WP Consent API and Google Consent Mode. In denied mode, Google tags may send cookieless signals; denying analytics storage does not necessarily prevent every connection to Google. We have not configured advertising tracking on this website. Site Kit also connects Search Console and PageSpeed Insights; Rank Math supports search optimisation and LiteSpeed Cache serves cached pages.

You may also remove cookies using your browser settings. Withdrawing a choice affects future processing and does not undo information already sent to an external provider. Blocking necessary storage can affect some features.

Retention and security

Retention depends on the purpose of the information and applicable requirements. Different periods may apply to enquiries, reservations, accounting records, security logs and backups. Please contact us about the retention or deletion of a particular record.

We use HTTPS and form protections on this website. No website or email service can guarantee absolute security. Please share only what is necessary for your request. Access controls, provider arrangements and backup handling form part of our ongoing privacy review.

Your rights and questions

Subject to applicable legal conditions, you may ask whether we hold your personal information, request access or correction, request deletion where appropriate, object to processing, or withdraw consent where processing relies on it. We may need to verify your identity. Some records must be retained even when deletion is requested.

Contact Tiaan Viljoen at info@dankhof.co.za. You may also raise a complaint with South Africa’s Information Regulator.

Children and updates

Our website enquiry form is intended for adults arranging a stay. A parent or guardian should contact us about accommodation for children and supply only the details needed for that request.

We may update this notice when the website or our information-handling practices change. The date above identifies the latest update.
